Fun in Atlanta

We had such a great time in Atlanta last weekend! We went to visit our good friends Katie and Steven Newman. The drive down went great (around 9 hours), and we ended up getting there on Thursday night at 2 a.m. On Friday we went to the coolest puppet show (Winnie the Pooh) at the Center of Puppetry Arts. Check out their website at http://www.puppet.org/. The kids were amazed. It was so fun watching them watch the show. That night we grilled out at the Newman's house. The kids jumped on their trampoline--yes, they have a trampoline!--for what seemed like hours.
On Saturday we went to the Georgia Aquarium (http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/) and it was AWESOME. The kids could have stayed there for days. We loved it. They had a really neat walk through tunnel that made you feel like you were in the water with fish and sharks all around you. The coolest exhibits were the Whale Sharks and Beluga Whales. There was also a really neat jellyfish exhibit. Then we ate at The Varsity for lunch. (http://www.thevarsity.com/). Delicious--greasy fries, onion rings, hot dogs, hamburgers, apple pies, milkshakes! Very low-calorie...

On Saturday night, Katie's sister Amanda babysat so that we could go out to dinner with Katie and Steven. We went to a really neat area of Atlanta similar to the Heights/Hillcrest area of LR called the Virginia Highlands. We ate at a restaurant called Murphy's. Delicious! After a wonderful meal and two bottles of wine, we were very full and happy! We then went over to one of Katie's friend's houses in the area and hung out for a few hours. It was so great to spend time with Katie and Steven. Being with them reminded me how much I appreciate and miss their friendship. Friends like those are few and far between, and we love them so much!

Sunday we got up and drove home. The drive was not so easy this time. I got car sick and a migraine (could have been from the wine???? HA!), George was running a fever and threw up, and Annie talked until we got to the Forrest City exit! I think we stopped 6 or 7 times... To say the least, we were glad to get home to LR. after a 11 hour drive. We carried the kids to their beds and they immediately fell back asleep. Matt and I crashed as well! It was a busy and full weekend, and we were so glad that we had made the trip.
